Good evening Revolution Family we are geared up for week 2 for our varsity level. We kickoff at 8 am at Washington Park with the Steelers vs. Mohawks. Steelers led by Head Coach Ricky Stewart are coming off a week one win defeating the Panthers 14 to 12. Steelers defense led by Defensive Coordinator Dennis Johnson made a big play in the 3rd quarter with an interception made by #50 Timothy Stewart. Steelers look to continue their success in week 2. Mohawks led by Head Coach Chantz Humphreys showed to be a dominant force with size and speed against the Raiders in their season opener winning 42 -0. Mohawks defense was relentless led by Defensive Coordinator Sam Grigsby keeping their opponent scoreless. Jeremiah Johnson played an extremely important part in his team’s success playing multiple positions on offense and defense stepping up for his coaches team and the Mohawk fans due to injuries. Mohawks are looking to repeat their performance in week 2. At 10 am we will have the Raiders vs. Panthers. Raiders are led by Coach Matt Register, their season opener was rough against the Mohawks being shut out and giving up 42 points. The Raiders are looking forward to game two for an opportunity to reestablish themselves as a competitive team the way they finished their 2017 season. Raiders defense will be a major factor in game two led by Defensive Coordinator Josh Black expecting a big gameloop from leading tackler C. J. Shaw. The Panthers led by Coach Xavier Webb lost their season opener to the Steelers 14-12. While their offense struggled running back Cameron Sawyer showed a great deal of focus and athleticism scooping up a loose ball from a broken toss play and taking it all the way for a touchdown. Special teams also found the end zone when Kaden Canada returned a kickoff. Defense led by Defensive Coordinator Victor Webb only gave up two scores, but with the extra point conversions it put them under. This weekend is also our season opener for our Junior Varsity. At 12 noon the Seahawks led by Head Coach Sammy Veal assisted by Coaches John Jones and Maurice Wilfong will take on the Steelers led by Head Coach Jesus Pozos assisted by coaches Robert Stanley and Darius Davis. At 2 PM the Texans led by Head Coach Steve Curtis assisted by Coaches Shane Brown, Sam Buzbee, and David Raupp. This will be an exciting week for Revolution Football.
