In the first scheduled tournament of Phoenix Revolution Sports 2018 Basketball season, we made a massive statement. Some teams had beginners’ struggles and some took it all home. Varsity girls under head coach Xavier Webb and assistant coach Danny Nephew won 1st place, qualifying them to return to Dallas for nationals for their second consecutive year. JV boys, under head coach Victor Webb and assistant coach Richard Crowe also brought home the gold, qualifying them to make their first appearance in Dallas this August. Our 8th grade girls orange Elite team under head coach Eric Powell, and assistant coaches Chanistie Wiley and Derrick Riley proved themselves to be a team to look out for as they came up with a second place win in a close battle, that resulted in a 5 point loss. Although they came up short they to gained a spot in the primetime national Dallas tournament set in August of this year. Last but not least, our 5th grade boys under head coach Carlos Encinas, and assistant coaches Gerry Morazan and Jason Champagne fought hard but came up third this weekend. Those kiddos have a lot of basketball left to play this season and I have no doubt they will grow as a team and make the entire Revolution Family proud. For the teams that had struggles, what I saw was athletes with a lot of potential and who never gave up. We are proud of you all and we will continue to grow and get better. Keep you head up, stay focused and I’ll see you all in practice. Go Revolution!!!
